Why Caulk?
Caulking should be used to seal gaps between non-moving parts of
doors and windows (such as around frames) and other small openings
around the house or building structure. As the house or building
structure settles, the building materials will often expand and
contract which results in gaps. These gaps allow outside air and
water to leak into the structure. Caulking is used to prevent these
building material damaging air and water leaks when applied around the
